Pradyut Bordoloi Sweeps Dispur with 49,667 Vote Landslide After Political Shift

Former Congress leader turned BJP candidate delivers emphatic win in Dispur, while Rupjyoti Kurmi also registers strong lead in Mariani

Guwahati: Pradyut Bordoloi has delivered a commanding performance in the Dispur Assembly constituency, turning the contest firmly in his favour and emerging as one of the standout winners of the Assam Assembly elections. Contesting on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket after a notable shift from his earlier political affiliation, Bordoloi consolidated strong support on the ground and converted it into a decisive mandate.

According to final counting figures, Bordoloi secured a total of 1,03,337 votes, while Congress candidate Mira Borthakur Goswami managed 53,670 votes. This resulted in a massive victory margin of 49,667 votes, underscoring the scale of his electoral dominance in the constituency. The counting was completed across 20 rounds, during which Bordoloi consistently maintained a comfortable lead.

Throughout the process, early trends steadily expanded in his favour, reflecting a strong voter consolidation behind his campaign narrative and organisational push. His shift to the BJP is being widely viewed as a strategic political realignment that strengthened his position in Dispur, one of Assam’s key constituencies.

In parallel developments across the state, Mariani constituency also saw attention with Rupjyoti Kurmi polling 79,632 votes against 26,840 votes, highlighting another closely watched contest in the broader electoral landscape.
