“Hat-trick with a Century”: Himanta Biswa Sarma leads with Over 1 Lakh in Assam

Guwahati: “Hat-trick with a century” marked a decisive moment in Assam politics as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma surged ahead with a commanding electoral performance. As per the latest counting trends, Sarma secured 1,24,996 votes, establishing a dominant lead of 87,701 votes over Congress candidate Bidisha Neog, who polled 37,295 votes. Independent candidate Dipika Das trailed significantly with 2,512 votes, further widening the gap in the contest.

From the initial rounds itself, the Chief Minister maintained a steady and expanding advantage, which gradually transformed into an unassailable position as counting progressed. The updated figures reflect a clear consolidation of voter support in his favour, highlighting a one-sided trajectory in the constituency.

In his reaction, the Chief Minister described the outcome as a “hat-trick with a century,” expressing gratitude to voters for reaffirming their trust. He further credited the electorate for endorsing the BJP’s leadership for a third consecutive term in Assam.

The Chief Minister further emphasised that the mandate represents strong backing for development, identity, and governance under the vision of a “Viksit Assam.” According to him, the verdict reflects a unified sentiment across regions, from Barak to Brahmaputra and Upper to Lower Assam, signalling continuity in governance priorities.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the role of party workers and organisational strength in delivering the outcome. He reiterated his commitment to accelerating Assam’s growth trajectory and advancing its position among India’s top-performing states, signalling a renewed push for development-focused governance following the emphatic mandate.
