First tranche of financial assistance reaches young entrepreneurs from Sonitpur district, Biswanath district and Darrang district as the state scales up support for over 74,000 beneficiaries statewide

Tezpur: Giving fresh momentum to youth-led enterprise, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed the first tranche of financial assistance to 6,561 young entrepreneurs from Sonitpur, Biswanath and Darrang districts under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan (CMAAA 2).
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to provide “new wings to the entrepreneurial ambitions of our youth,” enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods through grants, interest-free loans and skill-based support.
So far, 50,376 beneficiaries across 25 districts have received financial assistance amounting to Rs 461 crore. The mission is expected to cover 74,444 entrepreneurs across Assam, making it one of the state’s largest self-employment drives.

Calling entrepreneurship a key pillar of Assam’s growth story, the Chief Minister said that when young people choose to create businesses instead of seeking jobs, the entire state benefits. “When our youth choose to build, Assam chooses to rise,” he noted.
Officials described the programme as a major step toward strengthening grassroots enterprise and advancing the vision of a self-reliant and economically resilient Assam, with districts in Upper Assam playing a leading role in the movement.
