The national honour recognises her leadership in strengthening healthcare delivery, expanding universal health coverage and improving maternal and child health across the state.
Aizawl: Mizoram’s Health and Social Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii has been honoured with the Women Icon Award 2026 in recognition of her contribution to strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
The award was presented at a national summit in New Delhi organised by Achievers’ World in association with the Indian Achievers’ Forum. The event, centred on the theme of achieving a developed India by 2047 through broad-based socio-economic progress, celebrated leaders driving impactful change across sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Lalrinpuii said the recognition belonged to the entire health workforce, crediting officials, medical staff and frontline workers for their collective efforts in improving public health services across Mizoram.
She also highlighted the limited corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding received by the state and called upon private companies to partner with the government, particularly in healthcare and nutrition. Greater investment in these areas, she noted, would significantly benefit vulnerable and rural communities.
According to an official statement, the award acknowledged key milestones achieved under her leadership, including the rollout of the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme, progress under Mission Viksit Bharat 2027, and the state’s success in maintaining one of the country’s lowest infant mortality rates. Initiatives supporting rural families in transporting deceased relatives were also recognised. Several achievers from diverse fields were honoured at the ceremony alongside the minister.
