First tranche launched in Guwahati; Rs 56 crore released for Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) beneficiaries

Guwahati: Assam has taken another decisive step towards realising the vision of an Atmanirbhar Assam as the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 2.0 rolls out large-scale financial assistance to more than 74,000 young entrepreneurs across the state, aiming to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit of the youth and strengthen grassroots economic growth.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially launched the first instalment of assistance at the Jyoti-Bishnu International Auditorium in Guwahati, where 5,572 youth entrepreneurs from Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts received financial support worth over Rs 56 crore to start or expand their ventures. Statewide, 74,036 beneficiaries have been identified under the scheme.

Under CMAAA 2.0, general category entrepreneurs receive Rs 2 lakh each, while professionals such as engineers, MBBS, BDS, and other qualified candidates receive Rs 5 lakh. The support is structured as a mix of grant and interest-free loan, ensuring both immediate assistance and long-term sustainability.
Under CMAAA 2.0 alone, over Rs 1,482 crore is being invested to enable youth-led enterprises, marking one of the largest direct investments by any state to build an enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The multi-pronged approach, he noted, is helping address unemployment by transforming job seekers into job creators and strengthening Assam’s local economy. Encouraging beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity, the leadership reiterated its resolve to continue expanding support for aspiring entrepreneurs.
With a long-term target of empowering one lakh entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable businesses across sectors, CMAAA 2.0 is set to accelerate Assam’s journey towards self-reliance and inclusive growth, with the government affirming its promise to do even more in the years ahead.
