A fast-track court will hear allegations that the packaged drinking water unit resumed operations despite an earlier order to keep the facility sealed
Guwahati: The Mahavir Aqua case will come up before a fast-track court on Wednesday, August 12, amid allegations that the packaged drinking water unit continued operations despite an earlier order to keep it sealed.
The facility, located at Assam’s Chhaygaon Industrial Development Centre, is allegedly linked to Siddharth Sharma, former manager of late singer Zubeen Garg. Justice Sharmila Bhuyan is scheduled to hear the matter.
The fast-track court had ordered the unit to be sealed as part of the investigation into Garg’s death. The court had also ordered the seizure of the company after allegations that Sharma had invested money in the business.
Sources have alleged that the facility has been functioning despite the closure order, with claims that workers from outside are being brought into the premises while the main gate remains closed. However, the allegations have not been independently confirmed.
The Mahavir Aqua dispute is also before the Gauhati High Court. Chetan Dhirasariya, a business associate of Sharma, has challenged the fast-track court’s April 29 seizure order.
As part of the investigation, the court had also ordered the freezing of Sharma’s bank accounts and those of several people who had financial dealings with him. The August 12 hearing is expected to consider the status of the sealed facility and the allegations that work continued despite the court’s order.
