Assam entrepreneur Pritam Ranjan Deka launches ‘Axom Baan-Xohay Xetu’, a free platform connecting flood-hit families with verified volunteers and relief groups

Guwahati: With Assam continuing to battle recurring floods, a young Assamese entrepreneur has launched a free digital platform aimed at connecting flood-affected families with volunteers, relief agencies and donors.
Pritam Ranjan Deka has introduced “Axom Baan-Xohay Xetu”, a community-based initiative available at the platform’s website, to create a common space where people can report urgent needs and those willing to help can respond.
The platform allows affected families or people reporting on their behalf to submit requests for food, rescue, shelter, financial assistance and other support. Users can add photographs and location details, while the public interface displays only an approximate location for security reasons.
Verified NGOs, voluntary organisations, youth groups, rescue teams and individual volunteers can then select requests they are equipped to address. Once a request is accepted, the concerned support group receives the family’s contact details and precise location.
A key feature of the platform is its confirmation system. A relief request is marked complete only after the affected family or the person who reported it confirms that assistance has been delivered. The platform does not collect or hold donations. Instead, verified donors and recipients can transact directly through UPI or bank transfers.
It also provides official flood information, including Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) data, a Google Flood Hub gauge and a seven-day Brahmaputra basin forecast.
The young entrepreneur described the current platform as an initial version and invited programmers, designers, moderators, volunteers and disaster-response workers to contribute to its development.
