The digital survey will cover Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat, with the government targeting a final damage assessment by September 10
Guwahati: The Assam government has launched a mobile application to speed up flood damage assessment and relief disbursal, with a door-to-door survey set to begin in four severely affected districts from August 9.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the first phase of the survey in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat will continue until August 30, after which officials will revisit affected families to verify the findings and identify any omissions or errors. “We will complete the first phase of the survey by August 30, and subsequently, we will finalise the list by September 10,” he said.
The ‘Rapid Assessment Survey of Flood Damage and Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA)’ app will allow survey teams to upload photographs of damaged houses and collect other details digitally.
“A computerised portal or application has also been developed through which the survey work will be completed, and the data will be entered online,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister said the exercise would help the government determine the financial requirement for rehabilitation and restoration. “Once we know the total requirement of funds, we will definitely provide the people with whatever assistance is necessary,” he said.
