“Right Man in Wrong Party”: Raghav Chadha Explains Why He Quits AAP

Former AAP leader cites “toxic work environment” and deeper dissatisfaction, says decision was driven by disappointment and disenchantment

New Delhi: Former APP leader Raghav Chadha, on April 27, publicly addressed the backlash following his shift from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), sharing a detailed explanation through a video posted on his social media platform Instagram. his response comes amid a sharp drop in his social media following lost within a day of his exit.

Explaining the decision, Chadha said that the party had changed significantly over time. “Today, the party is no longer the old party. This party has a toxic work environment. You are stopped from speaking in Parliament,” he remarked.

Reflecting on his long association with AAP, he added, “I didn’t come into politics to make my career. I had a promising career as a practising CA. I became a founding member of a political party. I have given 15 years of my prime youth to this party, with my blood, my sweat and a lot of hard work.” However, he admitted feeling increasingly out of place, describing himself as “the right man but in the wrong party.”

Chadha assured that he had considered multiple options before leaving, including quitting politics altogether, but ultimately chose to switch platforms. He stressed the move was collective, stating, “Not one, not two, not three… seven MPs have decided to break away from the party.” He added, “One person can be wrong, two people can be wrong, but not seven people can be wrong.”

Rejecting the ongoing speculations, Chadha clarified, “We did not leave out of fear but because of disappointment and disenchantment.” He concluded by assuring continued public engagement: “I will continue to raise your problems with more energy and enthusiasm.”
