Ajmal Hussain and advocate Fateha Talukdar are the party’s first nominees for the upcoming Silchar Municipal Corporation election

Guwahati: The Raijor Dal has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Silchar Municipal Corporation election, naming nominees for two wards.
Social worker Ajmal Hussain will contest from Ward No. 27, while advocate Fateha Talukdar has been nominated from Ward No. 7, according to the list released by the party. Raijor Dal district president Javed Miadad Laskar said candidates for the remaining wards would be announced shortly.
Political activity within the party has also intensified ahead of the civic polls. According to party sources, several political leaders have reportedly joined the Raijor Dal, while others have expressed interest in contesting the election.
Speaking about their candidature, Hussain and Talukdar said their focus would remain on issues affecting ordinary residents, civic rights and the overall development of Silchar. They also pledged to remain accessible to people in their respective wards and work towards addressing local civic problems.
The announcement marks the Raijor Dal’s first formal candidate declaration for the Silchar civic polls, with the party expected to announce more nominees in the coming days.
