NDA Secures Third Consecutive Term in Assam: BJP Emerges Strongest With 82 Seats, Congress Limited to 19

Final tally confirms NDA’s dominant return; BJP leads alliance surge while Opposition remains fragmented

Guwahati: The Assam Assembly Election 2026 has concluded with a decisive victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which has secured a total of 102 seats in the 126-member House, comfortably surpassing the majority mark. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single largest party with 82 seats, including 81 wins and 1 leading position converted into victory, reaffirming its dominant electoral hold across the state.

Among NDA allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has secured 10 seats, while the Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BOPF) has also won 10 seats, collectively strengthening the alliance’s regional base. The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has not managed to open its account in this election.

On the opposition side, the Indian National Congress (INC) has secured 19 seats in total, including 18 wins and 1 leading seat, marking a limited but visible presence. Raijor Dal has won 2 seats, while the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has also secured 2 seats. The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has managed to win 1 seat, while other parties and independents have failed to register any impact in the final tally.

Overall, the results reflect a strong consolidation in favour of the NDA, with the BJP firmly driving the electoral outcome.
