Nagaon Bypoll: EVM Glitches Disrupt Voting at Two Polling Stations

Voting disrupted at polling stations in Raha and Nagaon as technical glitches leave voters waiting and delay the start of polling

Nagaon: Voting in the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election was disrupted at two polling stations in Assam on Tuesday after Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) malfunctioned, causing delays for voters.

At Polling Station No. 94 at Gerjaipam Adarsha ME School in Kachuwa under Raha constituency, voters were reportedly left waiting for nearly three hours after the EVM failed to function. Officials attempted to resolve the problem by replacing two machines, but voting remained disrupted as efforts continued to restore the process.

A similar technical issue was reported at Polling Station No. 58, Singari M.E.M., where polling had not begun due to an EVM malfunction.

Polling across the constituency began at 7 am and is scheduled to continue until 5 pm. A total of 2,112 polling stations have been set up, including five auxiliary, five model and 335 women-managed booths.

Around 9,664 polling personnel have been deployed, supported by 86 micro-observers, 69 Flying Squad Teams and 69 Static Surveillance Teams. Webcasting is also in place across all polling stations.
