Assam’s UNESCO World Heritage Site will welcome visitors again after the annual monsoon closure, with weekly range-wise closure days in place

Guwahati: Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam will reopen to tourists on October 2, marking the start of the 2026-27 tourism season following its annual monsoon closure.

The reopening will be marked by a special programme at the park’s second main entrance on October 2, Bansbari Range Ranger Nitish Boro said.

The park, a major wildlife tourism destination and UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts domestic and international visitors to its rich biodiversity and wildlife habitats.

According to park authorities, Manas will remain open until further orders under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Assam Wildlife (Protection) Rules, 1997.

However, individual ranges will continue to observe weekly closure days. Bhuyanpara will remain closed on Thursdays, Bansbari on Tuesdays, Panbari on Fridays and Kuklung on Wednesdays.

Tourists will be able to enter through the designated ranges from October 2, subject to applicable regulations and operational guidelines.
