The Olympic medallist from Assam secured top honours at the Grand Prix Boxing Tournament as India finished with an impressive haul of medals across men’s and women’s categories

New Delhi: Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain continued her impressive international run by clinching a gold medal at the Grand Prix Boxing Tournament held in the Czech Republic from June 16 to 20, adding another major achievement to her decorated career.
The Assamese boxer delivered a commanding performance throughout the competition to finish atop the podium, reaffirming her position among India’s leading boxing stars.
Lovlina’s triumph headlined an outstanding campaign for the Indian contingent. The women’s team secured four gold medals and one silver, while the men’s squad contributed four gold, two silver and one bronze medal, underlining India’s growing stature in world boxing.

Adding to the celebrations, Indian boxer Preeti Pawar captured gold in the 54kg category, producing a composed and dominant display to claim another international title.
Lovlina’s victory has drawn widespread praise from the sporting fraternity and admirers across Assam, where she remains one of the state’s most celebrated athletes. With an Olympic medal already to her name, the latest gold further strengthens her credentials as a consistent performer on the global stage.
