Chandel tops district-wise performance as over 36,000 students appeared for Class 10 examinations across Manipur

Imphal: The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur on Friday announced the results of the HSLC Class 10 examinations for 2026, with the overall pass percentage standing at 88.74 per cent, slightly lower than last year’s 91.37 per cent.
The results were officially declared by Commissioner of Education (School) Ningthoujam Geoffrey and BOSEM Chairman Ng Bhogendro Singh during a press event. Officials also confirmed that the results of three candidates have been withheld.
This year, 36,725 students, including 18,375 boys and 18,350 girls, appeared for the examinations conducted at 161 centres across the state between February 23 and March 23.
Students were required to secure at least 33 per cent marks in each subject as well as in aggregate to pass. BOSEM continued its NEP 2020-aligned grading system, focusing on overall assessment instead of only numerical scores.
Among Manipur’s districts, Chandel recorded the highest pass percentage at 97.38 per cent, while Jiribam registered the lowest at 74.59 per cent.
The results also highlighted the performance of internally displaced students. Out of 392 such candidates who appeared, 327 cleared the examination.
Meanwhile, strict action was taken against malpractice during the exams, with eight students expelled for impersonation and one debarred for unfair means.
