Flagship initiative focuses on flavours, fragrances and AYUSH sectors; AIDC and FEBI sign MoU to deepen Assam-Europe business collaboration

Guwahati: The Government of Assam and the European Union unveiled the Blue Valley Cluster in Guwahati, a major initiative aimed at strengthening economic ties between Europe and Northeast India while unlocking opportunities in flavours, fragrances, AYUSH and other high-value sectors.

The programme was launched in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, EU Ambassador to India Hervé Delphin, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George, Belgium Ambassador Didier Vanderhasselt and representatives of the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI).

Aligned with the EU-India Comprehensive Strategic Agenda 2026, the cluster is expected to promote research, innovation, technology transfer and industrial partnerships between European and Indian enterprises.

During the event, the Chief Minister held discussions with the EU delegation and business leaders on investment opportunities, semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, defence, aviation, tea, agarwood, organic products and wellness industries.

“The Blue Valleys platform seeks to connect farmers, startups, researchers, women-led groups and industries with global value chains, creating sustainable economic opportunities across Assam and the Northeast,” the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting Assam’s growing investment potential, Ambassador Delphin said the state’s biodiversity, skilled workforce and focus on sustainable innovation make it an attractive destination for global businesses.

In a key outcome of the visit, the Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) and FEBI signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance investment promotion, business linkages and knowledge exchange between Assam and Europe.

The delegation also visited the Tata Semiconductor facility at Jagiroad, underscoring Assam’s emerging role in advanced manufacturing.
