New Land Port Management System to streamline cargo and passenger movement; stakeholder facilities at Dawki and Srimantapur land ports also set for inauguration

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to unveil the Land Port Management System (LPMS) in New Delhi on June 9, marking a major step towards digitising and modernising India’s land border infrastructure.
Designed as a unified digital platform, LPMS will integrate cargo management, passenger processing and regulatory clearances into a single system. The initiative aims to reduce bottlenecks at border checkpoints while improving coordination among government agencies and private stakeholders.
Key features of the platform include online slot booking, digital payment facilities, cargo tracking and single-window clearances, all intended to make cross-border trade and travel more seamless and transparent.
As part of the programme, Shah will also inaugurate newly developed accommodation facilities for stakeholders at the Dawki Land Port and Srimantapur Land Port, strengthening support infrastructure for personnel involved in border operations.
The launch carries particular significance for the Northeast, where land ports such as Dawki Land Port, Darranga Land Port, Moreh Land Port, Agartala Land Port, Srimantapur Land Port and Sabroom Land Port serve as critical gateways for regional trade and connectivity.
Integrated with national digital networks including ICEGATE and ULIP, the system is expected to bring land ports closer to the technological standards of airports and seaports. Officials view LPMS as a key milestone in building a technology-driven border management framework that supports trade, connectivity and national security.
