BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao’ Campaign Gains Momentum as Assam CM Heads Shimla March on Nov 1

The BJP will organise four padyatras across Himachal Pradesh, with the party accusing the Congress-led opposition of undermining democratic institutions

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will lead the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao Arajakta Hatao’ padyatra in Shimla on November 1, Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal announced on October 28.

Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Bindal said the party would organise four major padyatras across the state to raise awareness about constitutional values and democratic institutions.

The Shimla march will begin at the Old Bus Stand and proceed towards Chaura Maidan. Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, MPs Anurag Singh Thakur and Suresh Kashyap, and other senior BJP leaders are scheduled to participate. BJP state vice-president Bittu Verma will convene the programme.

The first padyatra will take place in Dharamshala on October 30 under the leadership of MP Rajeev Bhardwaj and former Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar. Two more marches are scheduled for November 4 in Mandi, led by Jai Ram Thakur, and Hamirpur, led by Bindal.

Bindal accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the opposition INDIA bloc of attempting to destabilise the political environment following electoral setbacks. He also alleged that the Congress was seeking to bring about a change of government through unconstitutional means, comparing the situation to Bangladesh.

These allegations were made by the BJP leader as the party prepares to intensify its campaign around democratic institutions and constitutional values.
