The Assam minister alleges Hussain is seeking a political comeback in Nagaon and questions the Congress leader’s standing in Dhubri
Nagaon: Assam minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday targeted Congress MP Rakibul Hussain, claiming that the Dhubri MP is seeking a return to Nagaon after what he described as a setback in his current constituency.
The Minister inaugurated the BJP Dhumdumia Mandal election office at Kadamoni Bazar and highlighted the party’s organisational preparations.
Speaking at a BJP joining programme and public meeting in the Dhing area, Hazarika said Hussain’s “balloon has burst in Dhubri” and alleged that the Congress leader was looking to regain a political foothold in Nagaon.
Hazarika further claimed that Hussain had initially wanted Congress to nominate Dr Durlav Chamua for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll, alleging that there was an understanding for Chamua to vacate the seat for Hussain in a future election.
He claimed a large turnout reflected growing support for the BJP and expressed confidence in Sharma’s campaign. The turnout claim and electoral projection remain political assertions.
