Himanta Biswa Sarma directs re-surveys and faster DBT for flood-hit families while announcing a three-phase land patta distribution plan
Jorhat: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the Rapid Flood Damage Assessment Survey in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat, directing officials to complete the second phase by October 10.
The first phase of the damage assessment and rehabilitation assistance survey has been completed in the four districts. He ordered immediate re-surveys wherever required to ensure accurate and evidence-based assessments, stressing that no genuine flood-affected family should be left out and no unverified name should enter the beneficiary list.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to coordinate with banks to resolve Aadhaar-linked account issues and ensure seamless direct benefit transfers (DBT) of relief assistance.
During the briefing, the Chief Minister also announced that land pattas would be distributed in three phases. He said the first phase covered around 36,000 families, while the second phase is expected to cover around 1.10 lakh families by December.
A third phase will cover another 80,000–90,000 families, taking the total to around three lakh families. He further added that the government would also consider providing houses to patta beneficiaries who have not received housing assistance earlier.
