KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle president Banjop Dkhar was arrested near NEIGRIHMS, taking the number of KSU leaders in custody to six

Shillong: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police has arrested Banjop Dkhar, president of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle, in connection with violence during a black flag bike rally on August 19.
Dkhar was arrested near NEIGRIHMS on Friday night, a KSU leader said on Saturday. He is expected to be produced before a court. His arrest takes the total number of KSU leaders detained in connection with the case to six.
Those already in custody include KSU president Raymond Kharjana, vice president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet, general secretary Reuben Najiar, assistant organising secretary Jeremaiah Pohthmi, and Mihngi Circle general secretary Samuel Kharbani.
Police have invoked provisions of the Meghalaya Maintenance of Public Order (MMPO) Act, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the case.
The SIT is continuing its investigation into the August 19 rally-related violence.
