Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin review key areas of India-Russia cooperation, including trade, maritime security and nuclear energy
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday reviewed the expanding India-Russia strategic partnership during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
The two leaders discussed maritime security, trade, defence, energy, space, critical minerals, industrial cooperation and civil nuclear energy. They also exchanged views on conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea, with particular focus on disruptions to maritime trade and the safety of Indian seafarers.
Modi reiterated that “dialogue and diplomacy” remained the way forward for resolving conflicts and said India was ready to assist in peace efforts.
The meeting marked their second interaction in two weeks after their meeting at the SCO summit in Bishkek, where Modi had urged Putin to move from an “endless war” towards ending the conflict. Modi also gifted Putin a Russian translation of the ancient Tamil classic Thirukkural.
The leaders agreed to further strengthen bilateral ties, while Putin invited Modi to Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit.
