Regular classes for Class 10 will continue until February 22, while Class 12 classes will run until March 8, 2027
Guwahati: Assam has extended the regular teaching schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 students following disruptions caused by recent floods and ongoing Census-related activities across the state.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced the decision on September 8 following a special notice issued by the state school education authorities.
Under the revised schedule, regular classes for Class 10 students will continue until February 22, 2027, while Class 12 students will attend regular classes until March 8, 2027.
The authorities said the extension was decided after considering difficulties faced by students and educational institutions in flood-affected areas. The engagement of government machinery in Census-related activities was also taken into account.
The revised academic calendar will also affect the state’s board examinations. The dates for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination and Higher Secondary Final Examination will be announced later.
According to the authorities, the examination schedules will be finalised after considering the extended period of classroom teaching.
The move is aimed at ensuring students affected by the disruptions receive adequate classroom instruction before appearing for their respective board examinations.
