The eviction operation was carried out across three revenue villages in Krishnai after residents allegedly failed to vacate the land within 24 hours of receiving notices

Goalpara: The Goalpara district administration carried out an eviction drive in Krishnai, demolishing 73 houses across three revenue villages over alleged unauthorised occupation of agricultural land.
According to the administration, the affected residents had allegedly constructed houses on land classified for agricultural use without obtaining approval to change its land-use classification.
Officials said notices had been served to the occupants, giving them 24 hours to vacate the area and dismantle their structures. However, none of the affected families reportedly removed their houses within the stipulated period.
The administration subsequently launched the eviction operation with excavators, JCB machines and bulldozers. Several houses were demolished during the drive, including those belonging to families who had reportedly been living in the area for several years.
The administration said the drive was part of its action against alleged unauthorised construction and occupation of land in the area. The eviction has also raised concerns over the impact on families whose homes were demolished during the operation.
