The Naga Students’ Federation has warned of intensifying its agitation if the Nagaland government fails to address concerns over the proposed imposition of “Vande Mataram”
Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) continued its protest outside the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Thursday, marking the second day of its agitation against the proposed imposition of “Vande Mataram.”
Addressing the media, NSF President Mteisuding said the Naga people would not accept the proposed move and urged citizens to come forward to protect their rights and faith.
Mteisuding expressed disappointment that the government had not taken a decision on the issue on the first day of the Assembly session. However, he said the federation remained hopeful that the matter would be discussed in the House and that the concerns of the Naga people would be addressed.
Describing the protest as a “singing revolution”, the NSF president said the agitation was being carried out through democratic means. “This is a very democratic agitation that we are staging here,” he said, urging the government to take the concerns raised by the Naga people seriously.
Mteisuding warned that the NSF would intensify its movement if the government failed to respond positively. He said the federation would continue monitoring developments during the ongoing Assembly session before deciding its next course of action.
