Hundreds of consumers surround Baokhungri HP Gas distributor’s office, alleging failed deliveries and diversion of cylinders to the black market
Kokrajhar: A large group of consumers gathered outside the Baokhungri HP Gas distributor’s office in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, alleging that they had been unable to receive LPG cylinders for nearly six months despite booking confirmations and OTPs.
Protesters claimed the distributor had given varying explanations for the delivery failures, leaving customers without a reliable supply. They also alleged that cylinders meant for consumers were being diverted to the black market, raising concerns over the distribution system.
According to consumers, the distributor, owned by Bistu Ram Narzary, serves more than 1,000 Ujjwala LPG beneficiaries.
Residents said they had repeatedly approached the Kokrajhar district administration and senior officials of the concerned department but alleged that no effective action had been taken.
Tension reportedly escalated as the number of protesters increased, with employees allegedly forced to leave the premises as the crowd gathered outside the office.
