The Viksit Assam: Infra Vision will focus on healthcare, education, roads, power, housing and flood protection across the state
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced a Rs 50,000-crore infrastructure investment over the next five years under the newly approved Viksit Assam: Infra Vision programme.
Speaking at a press conference after a cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to accelerate infrastructure development and strengthen essential services across Assam.
The investment will cover primary healthcare, schools, anganwadi centres, housing for tea garden workers, power supply, road connectivity, women’s markets, hostels and flood embankments.
The Chief Minister said the programme has been designed to address infrastructure requirements in both urban and rural areas, with the focus on improving public facilities and expanding access to essential services.
The Chief Minister further asserted the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Assam’s infrastructure while supporting socio-economic development.
The five-year plan is expected to play a key role in shaping the state’s development trajectory, with investments targeting sectors directly linked to public welfare, connectivity, education, healthcare and flood management.
