Gauhati High Court rejects pleas by Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddhartha Sharma in the Zubeen Garg death case and defers Parash Baishya’s bail hearing
Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court on August 28 rejected two pleas linked to the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, including businessman Shyamkanu Mahanta’s challenge to the Fast Track Court verdict and Siddhartha Sharma’s plea seeking attachment of the Singapore Coroner’s Report.
The court also deferred the hearing on the bail plea of Parash Baishya, another accused in the case.
Mahanta had approached the High Court challenging the Fast Track Court’s verdict in connection with the case. Sharma, meanwhile, sought to have the Singapore Coroner’s Report formally attached to the proceedings.
The renowned singer died in Singapore on September 19, 2025. A Singapore coroner subsequently concluded that the singer died due to accidental drowning. The case has remained under close scrutiny in Assam, with several accused facing legal proceedings over the circumstances surrounding Garg’s death.
The latest High Court developments come as the investigation and related legal proceedings continue.
