Narzary’s mortal remains were brought to the BTC Secretariat as leaders and officials gathered to pay their final respects
Kokrajhar: BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary on August 27 paid floral tribute to the mortal remains of Bijit Gwra Narzary, Deputy Speaker of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA), who died on August 26.
Mohilary expressed deep grief over Narzary’s demise, describing it as an irreparable loss to the community and public life. He also conveyed condolences to Narzary’s family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers and prayed for the departed soul.
The mortal remains of Narzary were brought to the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar, where a large gathering of leaders, officials and members of the public paid their final respects.
Deputy Chief Rihon Daimary, Principal Secretary Mukesh Ch Sahu, IGP, BTAD Bijoy Giri Kuliga, Additional Principal Secretary Gapinath Borgayari, Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Pranjit Kumar Wary, along with Executive Members, MCLAs, BTC secretaries and senior district officials, also paid floral tributes.
Following Narzary’s death, the BTC has declared August 27 a local holiday in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur and Udalguri. The holiday applies to BTC-administered government offices, including Deputy Commissioners’ and SDO (Civil) offices. Schools, colleges and examination centres have been exempted.
The BTC has also ordered the National Flag to fly at half-mast on August 27 and 28 as a mark of respect. Narzary represented the 26th Darrangajuli Council Constituency and served as Deputy Speaker of the BTCLA.
