Hearings have been completed in more than 62,000 cases as the electoral roll revision continues across the state
Shillong: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Meghalaya has entered the verification stage, with 6,51,644 electors flagged for scrutiny, Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari said.
Of the 6,43,439 notices issued to electors, 4,78,217 have been delivered so far. Hearings have been completed in 62,343 cases, while 194 electors have been found ineligible.
The ongoing revision has also received 5,576 fresh applications seeking inclusion, deletion, shifting or correction of names in the electoral rolls.
According to the election authorities, claims and objections can be submitted until September 4. The process of disposing of the claims and objections will continue until October 3.
The verification exercise is part of the electoral roll revision process aimed at checking voter details and ensuring that the rolls accurately reflect eligible electors in Meghalaya.
