AAP chief claims E20 policy is harming vehicles and alleges ethanol imports from the US are being driven by pressure from President Donald Trump
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday led a march to the Prime Minister’s residence, carrying over 2 lakh petitions, urging the Centre to reconsider the nationwide rollout of E20 fuel. The protest was organised to oppose the ethanol-blended petrol policy, which the party claims is damaging vehicles and increasing the burden on consumers.
In a post on X, Kejriwal alleged that the Centre was importing large quantities of ethanol from the United States under pressure from US President Donald Trump, and claimed the policy was harming vehicle owners.
“Under pressure from Trump, Modi ji is buying massive quantities of ethanol from America. They are doing this in servitude to Trump, and the common man’s vehicles are getting damaged as a result,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal added that the delegation included around 100 people whose vehicles had allegedly been damaged by E20 fuel, adding that the petitions sought the Prime Minister’s intervention to halt the policy.
The AAP has demanded that consumers be given the option of purchasing pure petrol alongside E20-blended fuel and has called for a wider consultation before any nationwide implementation.
The Centre has maintained that higher ethanol blending reduces crude oil imports, supports farmers by creating demand for ethanol feedstock, and contributes to lower carbon emissions as part of India’s clean energy transition.
