Opposition MPs raise slogans demanding the Home Minister’s response, alleging police brutality against students and irregularities in Ram Mandir donation collections
New Delhi: The Opposition on Tuesday staged a protest on the Parliament premises, raising slogans of “Where is Home Minister Amit Shah?” while accusing the Centre of remaining silent over the alleged police crackdown on students and irregularities in the collection of donations for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
Holding placards and banners, Opposition MPs demanded accountability from the Union government, alleging that excessive force had been used against students during recent protests. They also raised allegations relating to the collection of funds for the Ram Mandir, referring to it as “Ram Mandir chanda chori” during the demonstration.
The protest took place ahead of the day’s parliamentary proceedings, with leaders from several Opposition parties urging the government to respond to the issues raised instead of remaining silent.
The demonstrators questioned the absence of Home Minister Amit Shah from the debate surrounding the alleged student crackdown and demanded a statement from the government on the incidents.
