The digital facility enables households to complete the houselisting process online, with data protected under census laws and used only for statistical purposes
New Delhi: The online self-enumeration facility for the Census 2027 houselisting phase has been launched, allowing citizens to submit their household details digitally through se.census.gov.in before the August 15, 2026 deadline.
The portal, available in 16 languages, enables users to generate a unique household ID and securely complete the self-enumeration process. According to officials, the information submitted will remain strictly confidential, be legally protected and used only for national development and statistical planning.
In a post on X, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari urged citizens to take part in the digital census process and extend full cooperation to census officials.
The optional online facility is part of the 16th National Census and aims to simplify the houselisting process before field verification by enumerators. The self-enumeration phase will be followed by household verification visits, while population enumeration is scheduled to take place in early 2027.
