Congress leader claims nearly 90 questions matched a leaked PDF circulated before the exam, while candidates also flag errors and irregularities in the Sociology paper
New Delhi: Fresh concerns over the integrity of national-level examinations have surfaced after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi alleged that the UGC-NET Sociology paper held on June 30 was leaked before the examination.
In a post on X, Gandhi claimed a 100-page PDF linked to the question-setting process was circulated shortly before the exam and alleged that nearly 90 questions from the document appeared in the actual Sociology paper. He further alleged that the question paper was sold for around Rs 2.25 lakh in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan, adding that the same network claimed to have access to papers for upcoming examinations, including CSIR-NET, HTET and ADA recruitment tests.
“The serious allegations that have surfaced regarding last week’s UGC-NET exam are utterly shocking,” Gandhi wrote, accusing the Centre of ignoring repeated examination controversies following the NEET issue. He alleged that the government had failed to protect the interests of lakhs of students and called for greater accountability in the examination system.
The allegations also follow media reports claiming student leaders in Rohtak displayed what they said was the leaked Sociology paper before the examination, alleging a close match with the final question paper.
Separately, candidates who appeared for the Sociology paper raised concerns over spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, repeated questions and alleged deviations from the prescribed syllabus. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the UGC-NET, has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
