Himanta Biswa Sarma chairs a series of high-level meetings on infrastructure financing, agriculture planning and healthcare expansion at Lok Sewa Bhawan

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a series of strategic review meetings at Lok Sewa Bhawan, focusing on infrastructure financing, agricultural growth and healthcare delivery as the state advances its long-term development agenda.
In a high-level discussion on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), the Chief Minister reviewed financing models to support the vision of Viksit Assam 2047. The meeting examined investment-led infrastructure expansion, development of medical and nursing colleges, energy projects including pumped storage facilities, and measures to strengthen institutional mechanisms for infrastructure funding.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister presided over a budget preparation meeting with the Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Resources Departments. Officials presented proposals aimed at increasing farm productivity, expanding irrigation coverage and improving water resource management across the state. The review focused on enhancing agricultural output while ensuring sustainable use of water resources.
The Chief Minister also chaired the Board of Directors meeting of Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF), where members assessed the progress of cancer treatment facilities and hospital services. Discussions covered nursing education, skill development, community outreach and the expansion of cancer care infrastructure.
The meeting further emphasized district-level awareness campaigns, particularly on tobacco-related cancers, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing affordable, accessible and quality cancer treatment across Assam and the Northeast.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of 11 ongoing and four upcoming Medical College and Hospital projects across Assam. He directed officials to ensure timely completion through strict monitoring and stressed regular supervision by the Directorate of Medical Education.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the development of green campuses through plantation drives and reviewed the status of B.Sc. Nursing, GNM institutes and Project Management Consultant-led works.
Together, the three reviews underscored the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, boosting rural growth and improving public healthcare outcomes.
