Congress leader appears before police in Guwahati in connection with FIR linked to remarks involving Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s family

Guwahati: Congress leader Pawan Khera on May 14. said he would fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation after appearing before Assam Police in Guwahati in connection with an FIR linked to remarks involving the family of Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking to reporters after the questioning session, Khera confirmed that he had been asked to appear again later this month.
“Because there is an inquiry going on, questions are being asked, answers are being given. So that is what is going on. Then I have been called on 25th, I will come on 25th and will fully cooperate in the investigation, as every responsible citizen should do,” he said.
The case relates to an FIR reportedly filed following comments made by Congress leaders concerning alleged properties and financial matters linked to the Assam chief minister’s family.
Earlier, Gaurav Gogoi had alleged that the FIR was politically motivated and aimed at silencing opposition voices raising questions against the BJP government in Assam. He had also claimed that Congress would continue speaking on issues of alleged corruption despite legal action against party leaders.
The Assam government has not officially responded to the latest remarks made by Congress leaders regarding the investigation.
