“BJP is Like a Whitewashing Machine Factory”: Gaurav Gogoi Attacks Assam CM Over FIR Row

Congress MP alleges BJP using agencies and police to suppress opposition voices, says party will continue raising corruption allegations in Assam

Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi alleges that the FIR against Congress leader Pawan Khera was intended to prevent public discussion of alleged illegal properties linked to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP and the Assam Chief Minister, Gogoi alleges that the FIR was politically motivated and intended to discourage questions regarding the Chief Minister’s alleged assess ad properties.

“The purpose of this FIR filed from Himanta Biswa Sarma’s household is to ensure that no one speaks about his alleged illegal wealth and properties. This mountain of alleged illegal wealth and property is not limited only to Assam or even India. The FIR has been filed to stop public discussion on this issue,” he said.

Gogoi further claimed that people no longer believe the Chief Minister’s assertion that he owns no property. “No one believes Himanta Biswa Sarma anymore when he claims that he is completely clean, that he has no wealth or property, and that whatever he has belongs to the people,” he alleged.

Furthermore, the Congress MP accused central agencies and police of being used against political opponents instead of acting against corruption within the ruling establishment.

“The BJP is like a whitewashing machine factory. We do not expect the CBI, Income Tax Department, or ED to investigate the wealth and assets of their own leaders. These agencies, along with the police, are used against political opponents, farmers, students, social workers, social organisations, and journalists,” Gogoi said.

Gogoi strongly asserted that the Congress party would continue to speak out against alleged corruption involving the BJP government in Assam despite legal action against its leaders.
