Pijush Hazarika, Rupak Sarmah Secure Massive Victories as BJP Surges in Assam

Rupak Sarmah, Atul Bora and Ajanta Neog register strong victories as BJP-led NDA moves towards third straight term

Guwahati: Pijush Hazarika, one of the known faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party secured a resounding victory from Jagiroad (52), polling 1,55,129 votes and defeating his Congress rival by a massive 93,584-vote margin after all 24 rounds. With this, Hazarika has been elected MLA for the fourth consecutive time, having earlier won Raha in 2011 and Jagiroad in 2016 and 2021.

Meanwhile, in Nagaon-Batadraba (60), Rupak Sarmah emerged victorious with 1,13,958 votes, winning by 61,984 votes after 18 rounds, ahead of rivals including candidates from Congress and SUCI(C).

In Bokakhat (105), Atul Bora of the Asom Gana Parishad registered a commanding win, securing 80,987 votes and a 60,537-vote margin across 18 rounds.

Adding to the tally, Ajanta Neog won Golaghat with 1,02,212 votes, defeating Congress candidate Bitupan Saikia by 43,759 votes. Similarly, Ranjeet Kumar Dass retained Bhawanipur–Sorbhog, defeating his CPI(M) rival by a comfortable margin.

These results collectively point towards a strong performance by the BJP-led NDA, which is now firmly on track to form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term under Himanta Biswa Sarma.
