Virat Kohli Scripts History with 9,000 IPL Runs as RCB Crush Delhi Capitals

Kohli reaches an unprecedented milestone while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood dismantle Delhi in a one-sided clash

Delhi: Virat Kohli etched his name deeper into cricket history, becoming the first player to cross 9,000 runs in the Indian Premier League during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s dominant win over Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium. He reached the landmark in his 275th match, underlining his remarkable consistency in the league.

However, the match was effectively decided much earlier. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck in the opening over and later removed key batters, including Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel, setting the tone with disciplined swing bowling. At the other end, Josh Hazlewood delivered a match-winning spell of 4 for 12, dismantling Delhi’s top order and earning Player of the Match honours.

Delhi collapsed to 75, despite a brief resistance from Abhishek Porel (30) and a small contribution from David Miller. In response, RCB chased down the target in just 6.3 overs, with Kohli finishing the game in style.

Kohli continues to lead the IPL run charts, followed by Rohit Sharma (7,183 runs in 276 matches), Shikhar Dhawan (6,769 runs in 222 matches), David Warner (6,565 runs in 184 matches), and KL Rahul (5,580 runs in 153 matches).

With this commanding victory, RCB not only boosted their net run rate but also tightened the race at the top of the table.
