Former All Bodo Students’ Union leader enters active politics, joining United People’s Party Liberal in Udalguri

Udalguri: Former All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) president Dipen Boro on Saturday formally joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), marking a notable development in the political landscape of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Boro had stepped down from the post of ABSU president on Friday, bringing an end to his long association with the influential student organisation. He officially joined the party during a UPPL meeting held in Udalguri district.
The joining programme was attended by UPPL president Pramod Boro, Assam Cabinet Minister U. G. Brahma, and Member of Parliament Rwngwra Narzary, along with several party leaders and supporters.
Dipen Boro had been associated with ABSU for nearly 25 years, during which he served the organisation in different roles before becoming its president. Throughout his tenure, he worked on issues related to the welfare, rights and development of the Bodo community.
His entry into the UPPL is expected to influence political dynamics in the BTR, where student leadership has historically played an important role in shaping regional politics.
