PM Modi arrives in Assam; to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for Rs 48,000 crore projects boosting infrastructure, rail, roads, energy, and farmer welfare.

Guwahati: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati today and was warmly received by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. During his two-day visit, the PM is scheduled to inaugurate several developmental projects, worth nearly Rs 48,000 crore, aimed at boosting infrastructure, connectivity, energy, and community welfare.
In Kokrajhar, the Prime Minister will perform bhoomi poojan, lay foundation stones, along with the inauguration of projects worth over Rs 4,570 crore. Key initiatives include the Wagon Repair Factory at Bashbari under the Bodo Peace Accord, the Asom Mala 3.0 road infrastructure programme, and six road projects comprising four flyovers and two bridges. He will also flag off three new train services connecting Kamakhya, Silchar, New Jalpaiguri, and Agartala.
In Guwahati, PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth around Rs 19,680 crore. These include the release of the 22nd instalment of PM-KISAN to more than 9.3 crore farmers, distribution of land pattas to tea garden workers, the Kopili Hydro-Electric Project, and expansion of the Numaligarh–Siliguri product pipeline and Northeast Gas Grid.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will also dedicate railway electrification and line-doubling projects, lay foundations for cruise terminals, a regional maritime training centre at Bogibeel, and the Kamakhya Ropeway. Additionally, the PM Ekta Mall will be inaugurated to promote local handicrafts and One District One Product items.
On 14 March, PM Modi will visit Silchar to launch projects worth Rs 23,550 crore, including the Shillong–Silchar Corridor, an elevated NH-306 corridor, and a new College of Agriculture at Patharkandi.
This visit marks a continued focus on rapid development and inclusive growth across Assam, strengthening infrastructure, energy, transport, and livelihoods for millions of residents.
