Rs 99.06 crore project links Bharalumukh to Shantipur, ensures safer and seamless rail crossing

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 4 dedicated the newly constructed Dinesh Goswami Flyover to the public at Bharalumukh in Guwahati, marking a major step towards improving urban mobility in the city.
Built at a cost of Rs 99.06 crore, the 1.2-km-long flyover provides uninterrupted movement over the railway line. It will reduce congestion at level crossings and significantly lower the risk of rail-crossing accidents. Officials said the project will also help curb air and noise pollution caused by prolonged traffic snarls in the area.

Named after former Union Minister Dinesh Goswami, the flyover connects Machkhowa with the Shantipur Swiss Gate stretch, offering faster travel and smoother connectivity for commuters across key parts of the city.
Describing the structure as a symbol of Assamese pride, resilience and progress, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government of Assam’s commitment to building safer, smarter and better-connected infrastructure while preserving the state’s legacy.
