Six-storey, tech-enabled complex brings departments together to boost coordination and deliver faster, citizen-focused governance.

Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed Block-B at Janata Bhawan. The initiative actively reinforces Assam’s administrative framework while significantly improving the overall efficiency and responsiveness of government operations.
Constructed at an investment of more than Rs 101.45 crore, the six-storey complex features spacious modern offices, technologically advanced audio-visual halls, and fully equipped facilities designed to support multiple departments with greater comfort and functionality.
The building consolidates several important wings of the government within one integrated space, which promotes closer coordination, quicker decision-making, and a smoother system for delivering essential public services to citizens.
Addressing the media, he said, “The new complex will accommodate major departments such as Public Works, Works and Services, Irrigation, and Public Health Engineering, all of which currently operate from separate locations, and bringing them together will help us deliver services faster and more effectively.”
Furthermore, the Chief Minister added that the project represents a decisive move toward modern governance, enhances administrative productivity, and establishes higher standards of efficient, citizen-focused administration in Guwahati.
