Seed capital distribution in Titabar and Dergaon accelerates women-led growth: over 27 lakh beneficiaries statewide move closer to financial independence

Dergaon: Assam’s push for women-led development gathered fresh momentum as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expanded the reach of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), distributing Rs 10,000 seed capital to thousands of women entrepreneurs in Titabar and Dergaon.
In Titabar Legislative Assembly Constituency, financial assistance was ceremonially handed over to 35,461 Nari-preneurs, enabling them to initiate or scale up small enterprises. A similar distribution followed in Dergaon, where 31,895 women beneficiaries received seed capital support, strengthening their journey towards becoming self-reliant ‘Lakhpati Baideus.’

With these additions, the MMUA initiative has now covered 112 constituencies across the state, benefitting 27,77,899 women across 111 LACs. The programme aims to enhance grassroots entrepreneurship by equipping women with the financial resources needed to start sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to household and local economies.
Describing empowered women as the driving force behind an ‘Atal, Avichal and Agragami Assam,’ the Chief Minister reiterated that genuine progress begins with economic independence at the community level. The scheme reflects the government’s broader commitment to inclusive development by ensuring that growth reaches the most remote and underserved sections of society.

Officials noted that MMUA has evolved into one of Assam’s largest women-focused economic initiatives, fostering dignity, self-confidence, and enterprise among lakhs of beneficiaries.
As the programme continues to expand across constituencies, it is steadily reshaping the state’s development narrative, placing women entrepreneurs at the forefront of Assam’s economic transformation.
