District-level meeting focuses on expediting work orders and restoring flood-damaged infrastructure under the Post Disaster Needs Assessment framework following the 2022 floods

Nagaon: In a key step towards strengthening post-flood recovery efforts, a crucial meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) was held to review the progress of reconstruction activities under the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA-2022) scheme. The meeting took place at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office and was chaired by the District Commissioner, Shri Debashish Sharma, ACS.
The primary focus of the meeting was the issuance of work orders for various approved construction and reconstruction projects aimed at addressing the losses and damages caused by the 2022 floods. These initiatives form part of a broader strategy to restore essential infrastructure and improve public services in flood-affected areas.
Senior officials from the district administration were present, including the Chief Executive Officer of Nagaon Zila Parishad, Shri Manoj Kumar Chikariya, Additional District Commissioner and CEO of the District Disaster Management Authority, Shri Sudip Nath, Additional District Commissioner (Education), Shri Gopal Sharma, along with the District Finance and Accounts Officer, the District Project Officer of DDMA, and heads of multiple departments.

The meeting underscored that the reconstruction programme covers comprehensive infrastructure development across the district. In this context, progress reviews were conducted for works under key departments such as Public Works (Buildings and Roads), Education, Women and Child Development, and Health.
Addressing the officials, the District Commissioner emphasised strict adherence to government guidelines and directed all implementing departments to expedite tendering processes and issue work orders at the earliest. He stressed that timely execution is essential to ensure that critical facilities and infrastructure in flood-affected areas are restored within the stipulated timeframe, thereby meeting the urgent needs of affected communities.
