Assam-born Olympic medallist defeats South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 to assure India another boxing medal at Aichi-Nagoya 2026

New Delhi: Indian Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain secured another Asian Games boxing medal after defeating South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 in the women’s 75kg quarterfinal at Aichi-Nagoya on Monday.
The Assam-born boxer dominated the bout through three rounds, combining sharp combinations with effective counters to outclass the 2010 Asian Games bronze medallist. The unanimous decision sent Lovlina into the semifinals and guaranteed her at least a bronze medal.
Lovlina, who won silver at the previous Asian Games, has now secured a podium finish at consecutive editions of the continental event. She will next look to advance to the gold-medal bout.
Her victory adds to India’s strong boxing campaign at the Games. Parveen Hooda had earlier secured a medal in the women’s 65kg category, while Ankush Panghal and Narender Berwal also advanced to the semifinals in their respective events.
With Lovlina now through to the last four, India’s boxing contingent has added another medal to its growing tally at Aichi-Nagoya.
