Mass rendition at Jawaharlal Nehru College brings together students to honour the late singer’s enduring contribution to Assamese music and culture
Boko: Around 4,000 students in Assam’s Boko came together on Saturday to pay tribute to celebrated singer and musician Zubeen Garg through a mass rendition of his popular song Xopun Rongor Jibon Tumi.
The rendition was held at the premises of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko, under the initiative of the South West Kamrup Students’ Union and the college, with support from various organisations and institutions.
Thousands of students sang the iconic song together as a mark of respect for Garg and his contribution to Assamese music and culture, creating an emotional atmosphere across the college campus.
South West Kamrup Students’ Union president Rinku Rabha said the programme was organised to express the people’s love and respect for the artiste and to honour his legacy through one of his own musical creations.
The collective rendition brought together students from across the area, reflecting the deep emotional connection Garg continues to share with the people of Assam.
The tribute was held as Assam observed Zubeen Garg’s first death anniversary, with memorials and cultural programmes organised across the state to remember the late artiste.
