Section 163 has been imposed around 15 Guwahati exam centres for the APSC CCE 2025 Preliminary Examination on July 5 to ensure fair and secure conduct
Guwahati: The Guwahati Police Commissionerate has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, around all 15 examination centres for the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Preliminary Examination, 2025, scheduled to be held on July 5.
According to an order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Nirupam Hazarika, the restrictions aim to ensure the smooth, fair and transparent conduct of the recruitment examination while maintaining law and order. More than 13,500 candidates are expected to appear for the examination across the 15 centres under the Guwahati Police Commissionerate.
Under the order, the entry of any person, except candidates and officials engaged in conducting or monitoring the examination, has been prohibited within a 100-metre radius of the examination venues.
Candidates carrying valid admit cards, examination officials, police personnel on duty and other authorised representatives of the APSC, district administration and government agencies have been exempted from the restrictions.
Police said the measure was introduced in view of previous instances involving attempts to compromise the integrity of recruitment examinations through the misuse of internet-based mobile applications and interference by outsiders.
The prohibitory order will remain in force throughout July 5. Authorities have warned that any violation of the order will invite legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
