TTAADC Village Committee vote counting begins across Tripura, with Tipra Motha winning four of six BJP alliance contests in Mungiakami

Agartala: Counting of votes for Tripura’s Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections began across the state on Monday, with Tipra Motha securing an early advantage in contests against its alliance partner BJP.
At Mungiakami RD Block, where six seats saw BJP and Tipra Motha candidates competing against each other, Tipra Motha nominees won four seats while BJP-backed candidates secured two.
The counting process began at 8 am across 45 venues, with 44 counting halls set up across Tripura and around 2,000 personnel deployed for security and election-related duties.
At Mandai RD Block in West Tripura, officials were counting votes for 57 seats across 15 Village Committees amid security arrangements involving state police and central forces.
Tipra Motha leader Utpal Debbarma said polling and counting at Mungiakami remained peaceful, urging attention to development after the elections.
BJP MLA and Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma described the BJP-Tipra Motha contests as a “friendly fight”, saying both parties remain alliance partners.
The Village Committee elections were held on September 28, the first in a decade, with voter turnout reaching 81.21 per cent. Repolling was later held at three booths on October 3.
Officials said counting at larger centres could continue into Tuesday.
