AJP Appoints Gen Z Leader Kunki Chowdhary as Central Joint Secretary and Spokesperson

The 27-year-old educationist and former Guwahati Central candidate takes on a key organisational and public communication role following the 2026 Assembly elections

Guwahati: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has appointed Gen Z leader Kunki Chowdhury as its Central Joint Secretary and official spokesperson with immediate effect.

The appointment was announced through a notification issued by AJP General Secretary Jagadish Bhuyan as the regional party undertakes an organisational restructuring following the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

Chowdhury, 27, is an educationist and politician who emerged as the youngest candidate to contest the 2026 Assembly elections. She contested the Guwahati Central constituency on an AJP ticket with the backing of the opposition alliance.

With her new appointment, Chowdhury will take on responsibilities related to both party organisation and public communication. The move comes as AJP reshapes its organisational structure after the Assembly elections and seeks to strengthen its outreach, particularly among younger voters.
